Feed-in Tarrifs
Some states and territories also offer feed-in tariffs. Feed-in tarrifs pay the owner of a solar power system a premium per kWh of solar electricity they feed back into the grid. There are currently two models running in Australia: A net feed-in tariff pays the solar system owner a premium for excess electricity fed back into the grid by their system; A gross feed-in tariff pays the solar system owner a premium for all the solar electricity produced by the system, including that consumed by the household.
Below is an overview of current feed-in tariffs being offered by state governments around Australia. |
| State & Feed-in tariff model |
Rate per kWh |
| ACT (Gross Feed-in Tariff) |
50.05 cents up to 10kW system
40.04 cents for 10 -30kW system |
| Queensland (Net Feed-in Tariff) |
44 cents up to 10kW system |
| South Australia (Net Feed-in Tariff) |
44 cents for buildings consuming no more than 160MWh annually |
