By 2010, Conergy Australia will build and install up to 450 grid-connected home PV systems for residences in the Evermore Heights estate, south of Perth, Western Australia. Evermore Heights, a joint venture between the Satterley Property Group and LandCorp, will be an estate featuring green designs and technologies developed to reduce household pollution. It will be Australia’s first residential estate running entirely on solar energy, exclusively provided by Conergy.
“We are very pleased to be a part of this initiative,” Rodger Meads, Managing Director of Conergy Australia said. “Each system will be capable of generating 1, 642 kWh a year and saving 1, 629 kg of CO2 each year. Thus, up to 667, 890Kg of CO2 will be saved across the whole estate annually.”
The deal was secured by Michael Rush, National Sales Manager. Construction will commence in January 2008 and is expected to last 18 months. Each home PV system, comprising Conergy PV modules, Suntop III mounting systems and Conergy branded inverters will contain a minimum 1 kWp PV array. An estimated 30% of residences will install a larger array of up to 2 kWp or greater. Conergy solar hot water systems will also be offered to residents. All systems will be mounted facing north at 30 degrees to maximize the benefits of PV and solar thermal.
"The end result at Evermore Heights will be a 36 per cent reduction in greenhouse gases, as well as the one-third cut in power bills, " Satterley Property Group CEO, Nigel Satterley said. "There is also the potential for homeowners to sell electricity they generate into the public grid."
Through the Federal Government’s Photovoltaic Rebate Programme, Conergy will be able to claim a rebate of AU$ 8, 000 per PV system. The additional AU$ 3, 300 will be paid by the Satterley Property Group to make up the full cost of installing the system. |
