System provider Conergy is expanding its solar product lines for sun-powered energy, heating and cooling with a complete, independently developed inverter product line. Solar inverters transform the direct current obtained from the sun into alternating current.
Conergy offers a large number of different power classes to meet every demand: from autarchic mobile energy supply systems far removed from the public grid, to solar backup systems, all the way to large grid-connected solar power plants in the megawatt range. The technology of the new IPG and ISA series inverters is ideally suited for an extremely wide range of requirements.
New generation of inverters from Conergy with integrated system management
Already the use of environmentally friendly solar systems to supply energy to remote areas is more efficient today than connecting to a far-away power grid. The inverters in Conergy's ISA Series (stand-alone inverters) are the central component in any independent energy supply system. They deliver high-quality, safe and secure energy for portable systems in everything from yachts, to mobile homes, to large vacation homes with only an unreliable public power grid available or none at all.
Designed for input voltages from 12 to 240 volts, the stand-alone inverters from Conergy cover a power range from 550W all the way to 30,000W. As what are called "true" sine wave inverters, all of the stand-alone inverters from Conergy produce grid-quality AC power and are therefore, unlike modified sine wave inverters, suitable for interruption-free operation of equipment such as televisions, etc.
Conergy ISA mobile inverter line: Flexible range of uses thanks to high degree of thermal stability
The devices in the innovative product line Conergy ISA mobile are aimed at precisely those customers who want to produce their own energy for private use independently of the public utility grid. With an above-average efficiency rating of up to 94 percent, the stand-alone ISA mobile inverters change the DC power produced by solar panels into normal household AC power efficiently and precisely.
All units feature extreme overload protection and can temporarily make available up to three times more energy than their rated power. That not only ensures a normal supply of energy; it also means you can operate technical equipment such as drills, pumps and motors which require more juice to start. The devices are characterized by a high degree of thermal stability even at extreme temperatures ranging from -25 to + 60°C and carry a two-year product guarantee. Conergy ISA mobile inverters can also handle extremely asymmetrical loads with no problem, such as those produced by dimmer switches and hairdryers.
Conergy ISA hybrid inverter line: Multifunctionality thanks to integrated system management
The stand-alone inverters of the Conergy ISA hybrid series were designed especially for use by autonomous communities with high energy requirements. They not only deliver reliable, interruption-free alternating current, but also feature integrated energy management with battery voltages ranging from 48 to 240 volts.
The integrated system manager ensures simple installation and maximum flexibility in terms of operation and can optionally regulate the automatic control of an additional diesel generator. Plus, all devices in the Conergy hybrid line employ Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology in order to maximize the obtainable energy of the photovoltaic modules. This feature reduces system costs by as much as 20%.
Conergy ISA backup inverter line: Intelligent stand-alone solution for a secure power supply
The inverters of Conergy's ISA backup line are especially designed for producing a stable energy supply in regions where the power supplied by the public grid is often unreliable. In normal operating mode when the public power supply is stable, the inverter's integrated charge controller conducts the solar energy into a battery. Once the battery is fully loaded as a backup system, additional solar energy can be fed directly into the public mains and used profitably. Should the public power supply system fail, the backup stand-alone inverter automatically provides reliable and precisely measured power even at high energy-consumption levels.
The inverters feature the same construction as the Conergy ISA hybrid inverter series and offer the same advantages as those devices - including MPPT technology and a battery voltage from 48 to 240 volts.
The central inverter product line from Conergy: High efficiency and top quality when feeding into the public grid
With a peak power output of 9 megawatts, the solar power plant on the roofs of the buildings at four German locations of tire-maker Michelin make it one of the largest solar-power roof projects in the world. Starting in the summer of 2005, 60,000 photovoltaic modules spread over 200,000 square meters of roof space will produce eight million kilowatt-hours of energy per year. The central inverters of the complete Conergy IPG series are being used in the project.
These high-power inverters with AC outputs of 40, 60, 80, 100 and 280 kW convert the direct current produced by the solar panels into the required alternating current for feeding into the public utility grid at excellent efficiency values. Their high Euro-ETA efficiency rating (weighted average) of 94.9 percent and maximum efficiency of 95.7% facilitate maximum feed-in revenues for the operator. Beyond that, Conergy's new inverters feature a low total harmonic distortion of < 2 percent and thereby contribute towards stabilizing the public utility system.
The flexible system architecture guarantees optimal utilization of available space. That not only maximizes the efficiency of the solar system; it also enables a significant reduction in installation costs. Conergy's new IPG-series central inverters were designed especially for use in large-scale solar power plants, thus guaranteeing optimum longevity of the component parts while necessitating a minimal setup space, which reduces costs even further. |
