Load Profile: This domestic power system has been sized against an average daily load profile of 20kWh/day. This installation would suit an average 4-bedroom home comprising lounge, dining room, family room, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, laundry plus outdoor lighting. Remote area power systems of this size are not usually ‘stand-alone’, that is they usually have a generator to meet periods of high demand and to provide back-up. A system of this size would be set up as 48Volt DC. Based on an average of 5 peak sun-hours per day, the solar array would provide approximately 40% of the system’s power needs. The balance of the daily power would be provided by the generator(s) such as wind and/or diesel and battery charger - the additional power for this system would require a generator run-time of 4+ hours per day.
