PV parks with 19,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules sold to Spanish based Solaer

6 August 2009
  • Both parks with a total capacity of 4 MW to be installed soon
  • Agreement made on joint development of other large projects

Hamburg / Madrid – The Hamburg Conergy Group has sold two solar parks with a total volume of 4 megawatts to Solaer in Spain. Construction of the large projects is slated to begin in the next few weeks. Both parks will be equipped with Conergy PowerPlus modules from the company’s own production facilities in Frankfurt (Oder), thus guaranteeing genuine “Made in Germany.” Moreover, Conergy and Solaer have finalized an agreement on the joint development of other large projects in the Spanish market.

The “Almudema” and “Los Pilones” solar parks will be erected in the Spanish regions of Murcia and Badajoz, where Conergy has already completed the powerful 1.5 and 2 MW large projects of “La Junquera” and “Aledo”. At the end of the construction period, “Los Pilones” will cover an area of 15 hectares with its total capacity of around 2.6 megawatts. The somewhat smaller “Almudema” with its 1.6 MW covers around 18 hectares. Together, the two parks are as large as around 42 soccer fields.

The highest level of “Made in Germany” engineering ingenuity is being applied in both projects. Over the next few weeks, 19,000 solar modules of the type Conergy PowerPlus 220 from the company’s own production facilities in Frankfurt (Oder) will be installed. They are high-quality modules that make photovoltaics lucrative, easy and safe. When they go into operation, they will produce around 4.2 million kilowatt-hours of clean solar electricity each day. 27 of Conergy’s own IPG inverters will then feed the electricity into the public grid.

The systems will thus supply more than 2,154 households with clean electricity, while at the same time saving more than 213,150 tons of environmentally harmful CO2. This is the equivalent of the exhaust of 30,000 cars if each one of them drove around the world one time. However, the two solar parks do more than just make a contribution to climate protection. The construction and above all the maintenance and operation of the two megawatt-class systems will create new jobs in the Spanish regions in the medium and long-term. After completion of the parks, Solaer will sell them to private investors.

In the future, Conergy and Solaer want to work more closely together on large projects and also realize parts of them together. In this regard, Solaer CSO Ignacio Arganze says: “The Solaer Group installs, buys, sells, owns and operates photovoltaic systems on the entire Iberian Peninsula. Our investments are highly profitable financial products with minimum risk. Even today, more than 400 customers are profiting from our services. With Conergy, we are relying on high-quality products and genuine “Made in Germany” engineering in our solar parks. Above all, with Conergy’s PowerPlus modules, we guarantee our customers profitable and at the same time high-quality, top products.”

The head of Conergy Spain, Luis Jimenez, adds: “We are looking forward to the possibility of working even closer together with the Solaer Group in the future and jointly developing more solar parks in the Spanish market. This is because, even after capping the production volume, Spain still has good conditions for photovoltaics. Companies who bring clearly planned and flawlessly designed projects into the registration process always have good chances of being awarded the much sought after projects. Conergy was thus able to acquire several projects for itself in the first two registration procedures for the awarding of large projects. We will start building these large projects without delay in the second half of the year.”
