Conergy to Build Giant Heart-Shaped Solar Plant in New Caledonia

Conergy Australia announced that it has branched out into the Pacific Islands. The company, a subsidiary of one the world's largest solar companies, will build a first-of-its-kind heart-shaped solar power plant in New Caledonia, 1200 kilometres east of its national headquarters in Brisbane.

The new 2MWp power plant will be located in the northern community of Pouembout, on Grand Terre, New Caledonia's largest island, where 7,888 German-made Conergy PowerPlus panels will generate enough electricity to supply 750 homes. The project was commissioned by TIEA Energie, a subsidiary of local beverage company Froico SA. Conergy will begin engineering and construction (EPC) work in the coming months, partnering with local contractor AMBI Energy.

The unique design was inspired by the "Coeur de Voh", or "Heart of Voh", an area of nearby wild mangrove vegetation that has naturally taken the shape of a heart. The "Coeur de Voh" gained worldwide recognition thanks to the aerial photography of environmental campaigner Yann Arthus-Bertrand in the best-selling book, "The Earth from Above."

Completion and grid connection of the Heart of New Caledonia Project is expected in March 2015. This latest EPC agreement adds to and further enhances Conergy’s growing EPC business in the Asia Pacific Region.

Mars Sweet Solar Success
Ballarat, Victoria

Leading confectionary manufacturer, Mars Australia, contracted Conergy to install a 210kW Complete Solar Solution. The large-scale rooftop installation at the Mars Ballarat facility will generate 1TJ (280,000kW/h) of power, and comprises a mixture of fixed solar panels and 2-axis tracker mounted panels, totalling 840 solar panels.

Acting General Manager for Mars Australia, Mr Duncan Webster said, "This solar photovoltaic installation will reduce energy consumption by 280MWh per annum, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 350 tonnes a year and provide net energy cost savings of $50,000 a year."

This landmark solar project clearly demonstrates the ability and effectiveness of the Conergy Solar Solution to power the high demand, manufacturing sector. It delivers an innovative solution in reducing operating costs, keeping Mars competitive in the local market while continuing to produce the highest quality product.

Conergy Energy Storage System Official Launch
- Optimising Mining Energy Operations.

In a move that many industries have been waiting on, Conergy has officially launched their industry leading Energy Storage System (ESS) solution at QME2014 in Mackay, Australia.

With heavy fuel oil and electricity prices soaring, now more than ever solar energy integrated into the overall power supply of a mine site, coupled with a remote Energy Storage System, will significantly reduce operating costs.

In most cases, incorporating solar into your energy supply system can save 70% or more on existing energy costs compared to diesel alone.
